The Power of Prayers

One of the best ways to assist your evolution into higher consciousness and stabilise your sixth sense so that you become an evolved being is to pray. Prayer immediately raises your personal vibration and ushers more light into your body, opens your heart chakra, which in turn activates your sixth sense and connects you with your Higher Self. Prayer isn’t complicated or difficult.

It is simply the practice of communicating on an intimate heart-to-heart level with your Creator.
When you pray you ask your personal ego to step aside and you surrender your personal energy over to a Higher Power, asking it to work through you, to bring about balance and healing.

Prayer allows Divine power to do for you what your own personal power and resources operating on a five sensory level can’t. Just in case you don’t already know this, in blind study after blind study, research shows that prayer works, so even science confirms that prayer is probably a good idea.
Prayer heals. Prayer calms. Prayer strengthens. Prayer balances and restores order. Prayer attracts solutions that we could never even imagine possible, which is what we call miracles. Prayer is a direct link to heaven and keeps us plugged into our source.

Some people wonder if there is a correct way to pray. I believe the answer to this is, “Yes, there is. Your way.” Prayer is such a personal and intimate connection with Divine Source that the right way to pray is in whatever way you personally intuitively feel moved to pray. After all, prayer, like everything else soulful, is an art, and your prayer is your art.

The other day I went to my computer to log onto the Internet for something and much to my dismay there was something wrong with my computer and I couldn’t establish the connection I had wanted to.

I felt frustrated and really disappointed that I was unable to gain access to this vast and free resource when I really needed it. Praying is very similar to logging on to the Internet, only better.
It is spiritually logging on to Divine Wisdom, the ultimate resource for needed support and guidance.
Like everything else that connects us to our sixth sense, prayer is most effective when practiced. That means we should pray all the time, until it becomes automatic.

Pray when you first wake up in the morning.
Pray when you take a shower.
Pray before your drink your morning coffee and when you drive to work.
Pray for direction, for the easiest and best way to get through your day.
Pray for inspiration, and for your health.
Pray for success in your projects and for patience when those around you get on your nerves.
Pray for forgiveness and an open heart.
Pray for the answer to your problems and where to find your car keys.
Pray for creative inspiration and for better health.
Pray to release the past and to open your mind and heart to a better future.
Pray for the willingness to let go of the old and outdated and reach out for something new.
Pray for understanding.
Pray for faith. Pray for peace. Pray for a happy heart in spite of everything. That’s just for starters. You can then begin to pray for others, and their well-being. Pray for your family, your job, and your co-workers. Pray for your enemies and your competition.
And most of all, pray for the world and world peace.

In fact, pray for everything you can think of.

When you pray you instantly raise your personal vibration to a higher and more harmonious energy pattern. This higher vibration has a healing effect on your physical and emotional body.
It calms your anxiety, soothes your nerves, and eases your tension. It has helped relieve high blood pressure, lift depression, and cure sickness, although the scientists aren’t sure how. In fact prayer has even been known to cause miracles!

Prayer is basic training for anyone who wants to become a six-sensory being. It not only opens you up to receiving assistance from a higher power, it also relieves you of the stress of “figuring things out” for yourself. Prayer simply turns things over to Divine Source for solution and takes the pressure off of you. One of the hallmarks of a six sensory being is the absence of worry over how things will work out.

There are no instructions when it comes to prayer. Pray whenever you feel like it, about anything you feel like, and in whatever way you feel like.

Don’t worry if you are doing it right. God knows better than you, what you mean and need.
The point of prayer is not so much what you pray for, or how, because we are often confused when we pray, but that in praying we allow for Divine Spirit to enter into our hearts and into our lives to straighten things out.

The beauty of prayer is that with it God does straighten things out and always better than we could have asked for or imagined.

Wiladate Imam Zamaan Mubarak!

Wiladate Imam Zamaan Mubarak!

Shabe Bara’at is the night that Allah (SWT) closes our previous book and plans all the happenings to take place for the year to come.

So, I ask you to forgive me for anything said or done as I do not know what is going to be written in my destiny for the upcoming year.

No man or woman on earth knows when they will leave this world…It could be any moment, and fast and unexpected….

Death might come while I perhaps have hurt my brothers and sisters.

Therefore I want to ask for your forgiveness today…

Forgive me if I ever hurt you – even if it was a “silly” remark

Forgive me if I ever hurt you – by giving you an unpleasant look

Forgive me if I ever hurt you – by talking behind your back

Forgive me if I ever hurt you – by raising my voice or by being arrogant

Forgive me if I taken something and not returned it

Please Forgive me for the countless harm I may have caused intentionally or unintentionally.

And may Allah (SWT) forgive us all, grant us and all our marhoomeen an opportunity to serve with our living Imam.

May Allah (SWT) hasten the reappearance of our Holy 12th Imam (ATFS) and give us the tawfeeq to do right.

May Allah (SWT) safeguard all the innocent victims of bloodshed around the world from the tyrants and oppressors

(aameen, thumma aameen)

Let us keep each other in duas as we are all so mohtaaj of these.

iltemase dua.

Translation Of Dua-e-Areeza

Submitting our Wishes and Hajaats to Allah SWT via Areeza to Imam of our Time (Aft) is one of the most effective methods of getting our wishes accepted & Hajaats coming to fruition

Translation of Dua-e-Areeza

I have written to you O my master, may His mercy and blessing be on you, seeking a favour from you.

I have complained to you for what has happened to me seeking solutions

firstly from Allah and then from you for a matter that has obsessed me.

I am helpless in combating the problem and for that I have resorted to seeking help from Allah and from you.

Knowing the status you have with Allah.

I am confident that you will help me get the solutions to my problems swiftly and that you will intercede on my behalf.

I am helpless and moreover I am sinful:

so help O master and present this problem to Allah and I pray to Him that He will solve this quickly

and grant me victory and success in finding the solution to my problems.

(Write your personal wishes and problems in the provided space)

I am not able to carry or bear with it. Although I am responsible for the increase of my sins and

ignorant about my responsibilities (Wajibaats), from Allah which are given to me.

So help me O my master. Peace be upon you during this time of problems and sorrow.

presents my prayers to Allah before I compensate and before my enemies engulfs me.

For you have shown me your blessings.

So I pray to Allah for great salvation and near victory with calmness from all fears,

for Allah is most high and does what he wants. Allah is sufficient for me from beginning and in my hopes.

Whatever Allah wish there is neither strength nor any power except in Allah the High, the Great.

*When putting the Areeza in the sea, we normally recite the following,

addressing Husayn bin Rawh, the 3rd Na’ib of the 12th Imam a.s.:

“O Husayn bin Rawh, Salamun Alykum.

I bear witness that you died in the path of Allah and (hence), you are alive and are sustained by Allah.

The Excellence And Acts Of Worship (A’maal) For The Month Of Shabaan

THE EXCELLENCE AND ACTS OF WORSHIP (A’MAAL) FOR THE MONTH OF SHABAAN & 1st Shaban -Extract from Mafatih-ul-Jinan

Shabaan is a month of high excellence and is dedicated to the Leader of the Prophets (saaw). He used to keep fasts during this month and join it with the month of Ramadhan. He used to say, “Sha’baan is a month dedicated to me. Whoever keeps one fast during my month will definitely go to heaven”.

It has been reported from Imam Ja’far Sadiq (as) that on the commencement of this month, Imam Zainul Abideen (as) would gather his companions and address them, “O my companions, do you know which month this is? It is the month of Shabaan about which the Holy Messenger (saaw) used to say that it is dedicated to him. So keep fasts during this month in the love of your Holy Prophet (saaw) and to attain closeness to your Creator. By Allah in whose hands is my soul, I have heard from my father, Hussein ibn Ali (as), that he had heard from Commander of Faithful (as), that whoever keeps fast during Sha’baan in the love of the Holy Prophet (saw) and to attain closeness to Allah will become a friend to Allah and on the Day of Judgment will be close to Allah by His grace and Paradise will be assured to him.”

Sheikh Tusi has reported from Safwane Jammal that Imam Ja’far Sadiq (as) asked him to encourage his neighbours and friends to fast in the month of Sha’baan. He asked the Imam if there was any special significance for it, and he replied that when the month commenced, the Holy Messenger (saw) would command his announcer to proclaim in Medina that the Holy Messenger (saaw) wished them to be aware that Sha’baan was a month dedicated to him and Allah bestows mercy on whosoever associates with him in this month by fasting. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (as) proceeded to report from Commander of Faithful (as) that since hearing the announcement, he never missed any fast during the month of Sha’baan and, Allah willing, hoped not to miss any during the remainder of his life. He added that fasting in the months of Sha’baan and Ramadhan is a means of repentance and pardon from Allah.

Keeping fast on Thursdays of the month also carried great significance. It has been reported that the heavens are decorated each Thursday in the month of Sha’baan and the angles pray to Allah to forgive all those who fast on that day and their prayers are accepted. It is stated in the reports of the narrations of the Holy prophet (saaw) that whoever fasts on Mondays and Thursdays of this month, Allah will fulfill twenty of his worldly wishes and twenty of his wishes of the Hereafter.

It is recommended to give alms in this month even if it is as small as a half date. Almsgiving in this month brings about rescue from Hellfire. In this respect, it has been narrated that when Imam al-Sadiq (a.s) was asked about the merits of observing fasting in Rajab, he answered, “Why do you not ask about the merits of observing fasting in Shaban.” “What is then the reward of him who observes fasting on one day in Shaban, Son of Allah’s Messenger?” asked the narrator. The Imam (a.s) answered, “The reward will be Paradise. I swear it by Allah.” The narrator then asked again, “What are the best deeds that should be done in Shaban.” The Imam (a.s) answered, “Almsgiving and seeking forgiveness are the best deeds in Shab¡n. Verily, if anyone of you gives alms in Sha`ban, Almighty Allah will breed that alms in the very same way as you breed your small camels. Hence, this alms will be as huge as Mount Uhud on the Resurrection Day.”

THE FIRST EVE:

Numerous prayers have been reported in “IQBAL” including twelve rakaats with the recitation of the Chapter on Ikhlas eleven times after the recitation of the Chapter on Al-Hamd.

It is a day of great excellence and it has been reported from Ja’far Sadiq (as) that whoever fasts on that day is assured of Heaven. Seyyid ibn Tawoos has reported from the Holy Messenger (saw) that a person who fasts on the first three days of this month and on their eve recites two rakaats in each of which he recites after the Chapter on Al-Hamd, the Chapter on Ikhlas eleven times will be greatly rewarded.

In the commentary of the Eleventh Imam (as) great excellence has been reported from the month of Sha’baan and its first day and its many benefits. Thiqatul Islam Noori (May Allah brighten his grave) has translated the reported at the end of this work “KALEM-E-TAYYIB” but as the report is too long to be included here fully, a summary of it is set out:

On a first of Sha’baan Commander of Faithful (as) passed by a group of a people who were seated in a mosque discussing the subject of destiny. Their voices were raised as the arguments were heated and the contentions severe. Commander of Faithful (as) stopped and greeted them. They replied, rose in deference to him and requested him to join them. Without heeding their request, he addressed them, “O people, do not indulge in discussions not beneficial to you. Are you not aware that there are creatures of Allah who, though not dumb or incapacitated, are dumbfounded out of his fear? Whenever they think of the greatness of Allah, their tongues become tied and their hearts feeble, they lose their senses and become confounded by His glory, majesty and magnificence. When they recover from this state, they revert to Allah regarding themselves sinful, though they are distant from sin and error. They are not content with their ordinary labours of Allah nor do they regard their enormous deeds as plentiful, and constantly engage themselves in efforts for the pleasure of Allah. Whenever you see them in prayer, you will notice them fearful and anxious. How do you compare with them, you the beginners? Are you not aware that the wisest of men are the most quiet and the most ignorant are the most vocal? O fresh people, today is the first of the honoured Sha’baan. Allah has so named it as the good things (khayraat) are disbursed in this month.

Allah keeps open in this month the gates of His benefaction and has made available for you His palaces and benediction for little virtue from you. So purchase them. But the cursed devil (Iblis) has embellished for you his vices and evil and you have always wandered astray and towards rebellion associating with evil and turning away from virtue of which He has opened the gates for you. This is the first of Sha’baan and the branches of its benediction are prayers, fasting, charity, admonishing towards virtue and restraining from evil, honoring the parents, relatives and neighbors, settlement of disputes and charity to the needy and poor. However, you have imposed on yourselves the load you cannot carry of discussing destiny. Enquiry into matters that are in the hands of Allah is not permissible to everybody, for it can lead to being misguided. Beware, if you knew what Allah has in store for the obedient, you would not have been indulging in such discussions but would have been engrossed in the matters prescribed for today.

“They asked, “O Commander of Faithful, what are the things Allah has kept in store this day for the obedient?” he narrated to them the episode of the army the Holy Messenger (saaw) had sent to fight the infidels. It was a dark night and when the infidels planned a night attach, the Muslims were all asleep except for Zaid bin Harith, Abdullah bin Rawaha, Qatadah bin No’man and Qays bin Asim Munqari. Each of them was engrossed in prayers and in recitation of the Holy Qur’an. The enemies shot arrows aimed at the Muslims. As it was pitch dark, the enemies could not see the Muslims to be frightened of its size and got so close to them that they were soon to destroy the Muslims. Suddenly such light beamed from the faces of these few individuals that the whole Muslim army became illuminated. This inspired the Muslims who unsheathed their swords and attacked the infidels killing them or wounding them and taking them prisoners. When they turned to the Holy Messenger (saw) and narrated their encounter to him, he said that the prayers of the their brothers on the first eve of Sha’baan was the cause of the light which illuminated from their faces.

Iblis spreads out his army round the earth urging them to make special efforts to attract the creatures of Allah towards them as Allah spreads His angels on this day round the world commanding them to look after His creatures well and urge them towards virtue and stating that because of them, the creatures will turn to virtue except for the disobedient and rebellious who would have united with the army of Iblis. On the first of Sha’baan Allah surely orders the Gates of Heaven to open up and the “Tree of Tooba” to bring its branches closer to earth and at that time there is an announcement from Allah, “O creature of Allah, these are the branches of the “Tree of Tooba”, cling to them as they will lift you to Heaven and these are the branches of the “Tree of Zaqoom”, beware of them lest they lead you to Hell”. The Holy Messenger (saaw) said, “By the one who has appointed me to the Prophet hood, whoever adopts any virtue on this day will have clung to a branch of the branches of the “Tree of Tooba” which will take him to heaven and whoever adopts evil on this day will surely have clung to a branch of the branches of the “Tree of Zaqoom” which will take him to fire.

“Tree of Tooba” & “Tree of Zaqoom”,

Whoever will recite optional prayers on the first of Sha’baan for the pleasure of Allah will have clung to one of its branches, whoever will keep fast on this day will surely have clung to one of its branches, whoever will reconcile between husband and wife or father and son or among relatives or neighbours or other people will surely have clung to one of the branches, whoever helps one in debt or reduces it has clung to one of the branches, whoever checks his accounts and discovers a debt due to him of which the lender has lost hope of repayment and he settles the debt, he will surely have clung to one of the branches, whoever stands surety for an orphan will surely have clung to one of the branches, whoever protects the dignity of a believer from the foolish has surely clung to one of the branches, whoever recites the Holy Qur’an or a portion of it has surely clung to one of the branches, whoever remembers Allah and counts His blessings and expresses his gratitude has surely clung to one of the branches, whoever visits a sick person has surely clung to one of the branches, whoever acts virtuously towards his parents or one of them has surely clung to one of the branches, whoever on this day pleases someone he had angered in the past has also surely clung to one of the branches, whoever joins in a funeral has surely clung to one of the branches, whoever on this day comforts a distressed person has surely clung to one of the branches and, likewise whoever does any good on this day has surely clung to one of the branches.

The Holy Messenger (saaw) said, “By the one who has appointed me to Prophet hood, whoever on this day indulges in the evil or sin will have surely clung to one of the branches of the “Tree of Zaqoom” which will pull him to the fire of Hell. By the one who has sent me as a Messenger, whoever becomes negligent with his obligatory prayers on this day will surely have clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever is approached by a weak or poor person of whose condition he is aware and is able to assist him without any harm to himself, and there is none other than him to help the poor, yet leaves him to collapse without holding his hand, then surely he has clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever, on receiving an apology from one who had wronged him, exacts from him punishment in excess of what is just for the wrong then surely he has clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever causes separation between husband and wife or parent and children or between brothers or brothers and sisters or relatives or neighbours or two friends or two sisters, he has surely clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever is aware of the hardship of a person, yet becomes hard on him and worsens his plight by anger, has surely also clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever is indebted but denies the debt and endeavors to invalidate it, has surely clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever molests an orphan, causes him trouble or destroys his property has clung to one of the branches of that tree.

Whoever transgresses on the reputation of a brother believer and causes people to dislike him, then has surely clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever sings in such a manner that people indulge in sins, has surely clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever sits and narrates his evil deeds and oppression during a war and takes pride in them, has surely clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever has a sick neighbour but does not visit him as he regards him lower than himself has clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever fails to join in the funeral of a neighbour only because he regarded him base, has surely clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever turns away from a distressed person and regarding him base oppresses him has surely clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever has been disowned (disinherited) by his parents or either of them, has also clung to one of the branches of that tree. Whoever has been disowned (disinherited) by his parents and despite being able to please them does not do so on this day, then he surely has clung to one of the branches of that tree and, likewise, whoever does any form of evil has surely clung to one of the branches of the “Tree of Zaqoom”.

By the one who has sent me as a Messenger, the branches of the “Tree of Tooba” will elevate those who have clung to them towards Heaven.” At that time the Holy Messenger (saaw) raised his eyes for a few moments towards the sky and looked pleased and then lowered his sight to the earth but looked displeased and turning to his companions said, “By the one who has sent Muhammad as a Prophet, I have surely seen the “Tree of Tooba” raise itself and raise all those who had clung to it towards Heaven and saw some of those who had clung to one or more of its branches, according to the degree of their obedience. I surely saw Zayd bin Harith clinging to a number of the branches and the branches were elevating him to the highest place in Heaven. So I became pleased. Then I lowered my sight to the earth. By the one who has sent me as a Messenger, I then saw the “Tree of Zaqoom”. Its branches were lowering themselves towards Hell and all those who had clung to one or more of its branches as a result of their ill deeds. I surely saw some of the hypocrites clinging to a number of the branches which were carrying them to the lowest abyss in a hell. So I became displeased.”

Regular A’amal -Month Of Sha’baan

The Holy Prophet said: “Shaa’-baan is my month”.

Imam Ali bin Husayn Al Zanul Aabideen (A.S.) told his companions: “The Holy Prophet (S.A.) used to observe fast during the whole month of Shaa’-baan. Therefore whosoever, in love of the Holy Prophet (S.A.), wishes to seek nearness to Allah and receive bounties, favours and rewards in this world and in the Hereafter, must connect Shaa’-baan with Ramazaan (in the matter of fasting and special prayers).

1) It is highly desirable to observe fast on 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sha’baan, & Pray every night a 2 Rak-a’t Namaaz. In every Rak-a’t, after the recitation of Soorah Al Faatih’ah, recite Soorah Al Ikhlaas 11 times..

2) Give Alms/Charity in HIS name “What are the best deeds that should be done in Shabaan.” The Imam (a.s) answered, “Almsgiving and seeking forgiveness are the best deeds in Shabaan. Verily, if anyone of you gives alms in Shabaan, Almighty Allah will breed that alms in the very same way as you breed your small camels. Hence, this alms will be as huge as Mount Uhud on the Resurrection Day.”

Recite 70 times:–

I seek forgiveness of Allah, and, repentant, beseech Him.

ASTAGFIRULLAAHA WA AS-ALUHUT TAWBAH

I seek forgiveness of Allah who is “There is no God save He”, the Beneficent, the Merciful; the Ever living, the Eternal, and I turn repentant to Him

ASTAGHFIRULLAAHALLAD’EE LAA ILAAHA ILLA HUWAR RAHMANO RAH’EEMUL H’AYYUL QAYYOOMU WA ATOOBU ILAYHI

According to narrations, the best supplications and invocations that are advisably recited in Shaban are the prayers of seeking forgiveness of Almighty Allah (i.e. istighfar). Hence, to seek Almighty Allah’s forgiveness seventy times a day in Shaban is equal to seeking His forgiveness seventy Thousand times a day in the other months

4) Recite the following 1000 times, whenever the count reaches 1000, at any time within the month, the a’maal is complete:
There is no god save Allah. We do not worship save “He” alone, making religion pure for Him (only), however much the disbelievers be averse.

LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAAHU WA LAA NAA’-BUDU ILLAA IYYAAHU MUKHLIS’EENA LAHUD DEEN WA LAW KARIHAL MUSHRIKOON

myWPEdit Image

5) On every Thursday Fasting is recommended & Recite 2 Rak-a’t Namaaz. In every Rak-a’t, after the recitation of Soorah Al Faatih’ah, recite Soorah Al Ikhlaas 100 times. After the Salaam recite Salawaat 100 times .اللّهُمَّصَلِّعَلَىمُحَمَّدٍوَآلِمُحَمَّدٍ In this respect, a Hadith reads that the heavens decorate themselves each Thursday in Shaban and the angels pray Almighty Allah, saying, “O our God: (please do) forgive him who observe fasting on this day and respond to his prayers.”

O Allah: (please do) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad—the pure, the pious, the righteous whose rights have been made incumbent upon us by You and the obedience to whom has been deemed obligatory upon us by You and whose (divinely commissioned) leadership has been (also) deemed obligatory upon us by You.

Allah! Bless Mohammad and his progeny and embellish my heart with obedience to You and disgrace me not with disobedience to You and bless me with tenderness for one struck with poverty from Your sustenance for You have blessed me with affluence in livelihood and because You have displayed Your justice on me and bestowed life on me to live under Your shade.

And this is the month You have attributed to Your Prophet the chief of Your Prophets month of Shaaban You have encompassed it with your mercy and pleasure.

The Messenger of god used to keep vigil in devotion during its nights and observed fasts during its days humiliating himself before You honouring and respecting it till his departure from this World.

Allah! Help us in following his life pattern and in achieving his intercession.O Allah! Appoint him as an intercessor for me and his intercession is accepted by You and appoint him to show us a simple path towards You and make me his follower till I meet You on the day of resurrection in a state that You be pleased with me ignoring my sins for You have prescribed mercy and pleasure from you and my entertainment a peaceful abode and the abode of virtuous people:

‘Lailatul Raghaib’ (Night of Desires)

First Thursday in Rajab called ‘Laylat al-Ragha’ib (Night of Desires).

This rite is a special prayer to be offered on this night. As is mentioned by Sayyid Ibn Tawus in his book of ‘Iqbal al-Amal’ andAllamah al-Majlisiy in ‘Ijazat Bani-Zuhrah,’ the reward of him who offers this prayer is that a great number of his sins are forgiven and that on the first night in the grave, Almighty Allah sends him the reward of this prayer in the form of a life form with happy mien and fluency to say to him, “Good tidings, You have escaped all hardships.” The offerer of this prayer will then ask him about his character, saying, “Who are you? Indeed, I have never seen such good looking face, and I have never heard such fluent words, and I have never smelled such nice scent.” He will be answered, “I am the reward of the prayer that you offered at so-and-so night in so-and-so month in so-and-so year at the town of so-and-so. I am here now so as to settle your right, to entertain you in your loneliness, and to save you from this cheerless situation. When the Trumpet shall be blown (declaring the Resurrection Day), I will cast a shadow over your head in the Resurrection Court. So, be happy, for you shall never be deprived of goodness.”

The Holy Prophet (s.a) has said, that these prayers are Means of forgiveness and On the first night in our grave,, the Almighty will send the reward off this prayer in the best,, enlightened and eloquent form.. When inquired,, will reply,, ‘‘My Beloved,, glad tidings to you that you have found salvation from every hardship and horror..’’When asked,, ‘‘Who are you?’’ ‘‘By God I haven’t seen any one more beautiful than you,, I haven’t heard a word sweeter than yours,, or a fragrance better than you?’’ In reply,, ‘‘I am,, that prayer which you offered on the eve off the first Friday of the month of Rajab. I have come to you,, to be your companion in this loneliness,, to remove from you your fright and horror.. Be lest assured that my shelter will be with you until the blowing off the Horn off the Day off Judgment..’’

One should observe fast on the first Thursday in Rajab.

Between the Maghrib (sunset) and Isha' (evening) Prayers, one should offer a twelve Rakah prayer each couple of which is separated by Taslim (i.e. the concluding part of a prayer). In each Rak`ah, one should recite the Surah of al-Fatihah once, the Surah of al-Qadr three times, and the Surah of al-Taweed twelve times.

After accomplishing the prayer, one should recite the following invocation seventy times:

Recite 70 times:

The Finer Thought

Imam Mohammad Al -Baqir has said:

“Haseebu qabla an tuhasibu” – “Do your accounting before the accounting is done for you”

The poem below sums up how our each day should be:

The Finer Thought

How fine it is at night to say:

“I have not wronged a soul to-day.

I have not by a word or deed,

In any breast sowed anger’s seed,

Or caused a fellow being pain;

Nor is there on my crest a stain

That shame has left. In honour’s way,

With head erect, I’ve lived this day.”

When night slips down and day departs

And rest returns to weary hearts,

How fine it is to close the book

Of records for the day, and look

Once more along the traveled mile

And find that all has been worthwhile;

To say: “In honour I have toiled;

My plume is spotless and unsoiled.”

Yet cold and stern a man may be

Retaining his integrity;

And he may pass from day to day

A spirit dead, in living clay,

Observing strictly morals, laws,

Yet serving but a selfish cause;

So it is not enough to say:

“I have not stooped to shame to-day!”

It is a finer, nobler thought

When day is done and night has brought

The contemplative hours and sweet,

And rest to weary hearts and feet,

If man can stand in truth and say:

“I have been useful here to-day.

Back there is one I chanced to see

with hope newborn because of me.

“This day in honour I have toiled;

My shining crest is still unsoiled;

But on the mile I leave behind

Is one who says that I was kind;

And someone hums a cheerful song

Because I chanced to come along.”

Sweet rest at night that man shall own

Who has not lived his day alone.

Poem of Death

Death came too soon, I was yet to repent,

My sins now unwashed remain with me till the end.

Time was spent on meaningless acts,

Worship ignored, a blind eye turned to the facts.

Days would go by without a thought,

That time was running out and my breaths were now numbered.

But I carried on, and indulged in life,

Forgetting my purpose, my aim in life.

I was being watched yet acted so selfishly,

I talked with disrespect and walked about aimlessly.

I feared very little and felt proud to be a Muslim,

But my actions were very different from the teachings of our religion.

Then one day He showed me His sign,

He took away my breath; it was now the end of the line.

I lay there helpless and watched in silence,

As all those around me screamed and wept.

I thought for a moment, what a bizarre scene,

But then realised I was no longer alive to intervene.

I wanted freedom, to be let loose to move,

But the wings of the flighty dove had now been removed.

I sunk so low as to feel my chest burdened,

With the weight of a thousand stones bearing on my soul now hardened.

In an instance life had swiftly come and gone,

Not once did I stop to think about what I’d done.

All that neglect, I had caused so much pain,

But any prayers and pleas were now in vain.

As I lay still, my cries would be unheard,

Like the boy who cried wolf to the disbelieving shepherd.

As folk sat weeping my journey had already begun,

Into the unseen, to darkness and beyond.

If only I had listened, had adhered and refrained,

This journey would have been to a place more serene.
